What Is Sprouted Ragi Atta?

Sprouted Ragi Atta is made from finger millet grains that are sprouted before milling. Sprouting is a traditional technique where whole grains are soaked and allowed to germinate slightly before drying and grinding — believed to make nutrients more available and the flour easier to digest than flour from unsprouted grain.

What Does Sprouting Actually Change?

During sprouting, grains begin the early stages of converting stored starches, which can make certain nutrients more bioavailable and gives the flour a naturally sweeter, milder taste compared to regular ragi atta. It's a slower, more involved process than regular milling.

How Is This Different From Premium Ragi Atta?

Premium Ragi Atta is milled directly from whole ragi grain. Sprouted Ragi Atta goes through the additional sprouting step first — resulting in a naturally sweeter flavour and a flour some people find easier to digest, at a higher price point due to the extra processing time.

How Is ShuddhOra's Sprouted Ragi Atta Milled?

Every order is ground fresh on a stone chakki only after you place it — never pulled from bulk pre-milled stock. The flour is sealed immediately after milling to lock in freshness, then delivered across Mumbai, usually within hours.

How to Use Sprouted Ragi Atta

Works well for dosas and uttapams, ragi idlis, pancakes, porridge (ragi kanji), ladoos, cookies and biscuits, ragi cakes and muffins, and chilla. It can also be blended with other flours for parathas and thalipeeth.

How to Store Freshly Milled Sprouted Ragi Atta

ShuddhOra atta comes packed in an airtight container — just keep it sealed after each use and store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Because sprouting makes the grain more delicate, sprouted flour has a shorter shelf life than regular atta, best used within a few weeks of milling. The exact expiry date is printed on the pack, and an oxygen absorber sachet is sealed inside to help extend freshness.
